Your Role and Responsibilities

As an IBM design team, we’re creative problem solvers who work together using the latest techniques to craft intuitive user experiences. We’re a group of researchers, and designers who enjoy getting to the heart of our clients’ business problems and collaborating with our development teams to build solutions.

Who you are:

You’re a UI/UX designer looking to join a cross-functional Agile team based in London. You have a growth mindset and often take initiative to improve something that you see isn’t working well for your team projects. You’re enthusiastic about design and looking to learn by taking on new and complex UX challenges. You constructively contribute to design critiques and enjoy working as a team to improve the outcomes. Last but not least, you’re able to articulately present your designs and speak to the value of their ingenuity.

Your role and project:

Your role will be based in the IBM Studio, a buzzing, modern working environment which brings together best-in-class practitioners, technology and workspace. Note: we are currently following a hybrid working model of at least two days in our London office. You’ll work on the design of a local project, part of a wider enterprise-scale programme modernising IBM’s Business Partner Experiences, and participate in a growing community of designers worldwide.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Required Skills:

  • The ability to explain thought processes that drive design decisions and relate them back to the user
  • Awareness and experience of prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Photoshop & Illustrator
  • An understanding of multimedia/interactive design principals & experience designing for the web
  • Demonstrated experience inDesign Thinking methodologies and practices.
  • A desire to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment and a passion for delivering great customer experiences
  • A balance between attention to detail and the big picture of the project

Interpersonal skills:

  • Time management and organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise own workload
  • A team player with the ability to communicate across boundaries and levels, knowing when to ask for help and provide it to others
  • Driven to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Logical approach to problem-solving
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • A highly motivated and proactive self-starter

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

What’s nice to have:

  • Understanding of Design Thinking practices
  • Experience collaborating remotely with colleagues in global locations
  • Knowledge of Figma, Mural or other design tools
  • Knowledge of accessibility in design
