Technology consulting – get the career you want at RSM

The pace of technological change is immense and accelerating. The Covid pandemic has focused business attention on the need to have systems that are agile, flexible, scalable and accessible remotely. The impact of new technologies such as AI, blockchain, machine learning, IoT and social media is providing new opportunities. Businesses need better management information, both historic to measure performance and also predictive analytics to model market changes.

Our focus is on advising our clients on how to navigate the path of available technologies, to help them deliver real improvements with a practical and pragmatic approach to technology implementation. We also understand that technology is not a silver bullet, that our clients need to embrace the wider business, cultural and people changes that will allow them to adopt new ways of working.

RSM’s technology consulting graduate apprenticeship will give you all the skills and support you need to unlock a future that’s packed with opportunities and new experiences. You’ll enjoy a fast-tracked business career that recognises your potential and rewards your ambition.

When you join our team, you’ll enjoy a powerful combination of on-the-job learning and structured training – working with the latest business technology and helping clients unlock its value. You’ll discover a culture that nurtures individuality and an environment where everyone is supported to reach their potential. With us, you’ll always be moving forward.

What does our technology consulting team do?

RSM’s Technology Consulting team is one of the fastest growing parts of our business with a strategy to become the leading provider of business systems and digital consulting services to the middle market. Our practice provides the following:

  • IT and digital strategy.
  • Cloud application architecture and selection.
  • NetSuite and Microsoft Dynamics ERP solutions.
  • Technology enabled business transformation.
  • Corporate Performance Management.
  • Data analytics.

Our clients range from regional businesses to FTSE100. Our goal is to become the partner of choice with our clients, providing long term advisory, delivery and support services through a more personal and tailored approach.

What can you expect?

RSM’s graduate apprenticeship in technology consulting offers top quality career development. From day one, you will join with trainees across the firm to receive core training in accounting and soft skills. Alongside this you will benefit from specific technical skills training focussed on our technology consulting services, for example NetSuite or Microsoft Business Central.

Following your basic enablement, you’ll join colleagues in delivering live client engagements. No two journeys will be the same, as each client experience is different, but you’ll have the opportunity to learn from experienced members of the team and understand how technology projects are delivered. This hands-on experience is invaluable as you take the next steps in your career.

Recognising that finance is at the heart of our technology projects, when you join our team you’ll work towards the ACA qualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW), or your Chartered Accountancy (CA) qualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS). You will also benefit from a wide variety of internal and external training that will help you develop in the role.

What we look for

We’re on the lookout for students with a ‘can-do’ attitude who are prepared to work hard and take on high levels of responsibility. We also look for team players who enjoy interacting with others and are curious about how digital technology can generate real benefit for businesses.

You may be working on multiple projects at the same time, so time management and organisational skills are key. Confidence with numbers and business awareness is a must, but you’ll also need excellent communication skills and be able to forge strong working relationships with people from all backgrounds. Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is essential.

If that sounds like you, we know you’ll enjoy being part of our team.

At RSM we work hard to create an environment where our people can make a difference – to themselves, their career, their teams, and to the success of our firm and clients. We support all our people to work flexibly, to manage their family and other responsibilities alongside their work commitments; we believe this is key to achieving an inspiring and fulfilling working environment.
