The Global Large Enterprise Seller Risk Strategy team is responsible globally for the formulation of seller risk strategy for large sellers. Understanding and proactively managing the credit (insolvency) risks associated with these sellers is critical to our management of the portfolio. The credit risk arises as PayPal offers a type of guarantee to buyers for undelivered goods and services and if the seller becomes insolvent, PayPal bears the financial liability.

We are looking for a highly talented, decisive, self-motivated and results-driven individual to join the Global Large Enterprise Seller Risk Strategy team.

You will be expected to support the development of short, mid, and long-term risk strategy for PayPal’s growing Global Enterprise merchant portfolio while reviewing existing strategies on an on-going basis, assisting in making recommendations for change as needed. These efforts require close collaboration with various cross-functional teams around the globe.

This position requires a strong record of project management, business acumen, data analytics, creative thinking, communication skills, exceptional multi-tasking capabilities as well as advanced research and analytical skills.


Your day to day:

  • Assist in discovery of new opportunities to grow and optimize business and risk/reward trade-offs through analytics.

  • Deep dive analyses on very large data using SQL/SAS or other tools and structuring of analyses using MS Excel.

  • Cultivate insights across the portfolio using both internal and external data, support implementation of changes.

  • Translate quantitative information into presentations that are easily understood by general management on a regular basis. Communicate and interact with partners, verbally and written, in a professional manner.

  • Manage the enablement of new or high-risk vertical projects by way of collaboration with cross-functional teams, including sales, compliance, and product.

  • Conduct post-live reporting on newly enabled verticals in which PayPal conducts business through understanding the customer payment flows, exposure and chargeback risks to PayPal.

  • Stay current on merchant industry trends that impact the Large Enterprise Merchant segment.

  • Lead special strategic projects and perform other duties as assigned.


What do you need to bring:

  • 5 + years of related experience in business or risk analytics in a fast-moving and matrixed environment.

  • 2+ years of experience in relational database querying (SQL, Teradata)

  • Be comfortable with complex data and analytics to draw meaningful insights

  • Experience in project managing implementation of new procedures, guidelines, and/or tools.

  • Strong business acumen, highly curious, balance and negotiate the needs between teams.

  • Experience creating procedural guidance and/or policies.

  • Be a team player, with strong interpersonal & communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Strong collaboration skills, and the ability to build rapport with members of other departments.

  • Strong working knowledge of external systems, PC based internet and software applications (Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Familiarity with merchant processing industry, particularly risk and operational processes, preferred.

  • Insight of card networks and card compliance, preferred.

  • Knowledge or interest of high-risk segment such as cryptocurrency, NFTs, gambling, travel, etc., preferred.

  • Have a university degree and/or professional qualification in Science, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Mathematics or related fields
