We are looking to hire a talented and experienced Security Trainer . Technical background essential, major bonus points for creative flair.
This is not a boring job making slide deck presentations on “how to use a VPN,” or filming insomnia-solving security awareness videos that everybody mutes and lets run in the background while they do actual work.
We need someone who can burrow deep into the psyche of our company culture and make a real impact.
Just to make things extra challenging, our official in-house language is International Business English, and the majority of employees speak English fluently, but as a second language.
For the Security Trainer role It doesn’t take a wild imagination to see why a company building code for one of the major cryptocurrency networks experiences constant attention from “bad guys”.
Also worth mentioning, all our software is FOSS, and we value employees freedom and self-determination above most other things.
Hopefully, this makes it obvious that the job of maintaining sufficient security practices in the company is FUN in a very specific, sometimes painful way.
We’re looking for the right person to help us with a subset of that job, and take charge of our internal security education and training.
“The right person” here means that you:
can clearly see how a 25-slides deck on the dangers of phishing is waaay less effective than a [10-minute quiz from Google’s Jigsaw] ( https://phishingquiz.withgoogle.com/ );
are willing to write texts, build webpages, shoot videos, engage in the screen sharing sessions, record podcasts, draw — whatever it takes to get 150+ and growing Parity employees (who are scattered across all the continents on the globe except Antarctica) to understand and care about cybersecurity;
wouldn’t give in to frustration of having to prove every minor piece of your advice with proflinks and logical reasoning under the opinionated scrutiny of (we’d like to think) some of the world’s smartest engineers;
are willing to understand our company’s culture and rely on it in your work instead of fighting with it;
have a broad tech horizon and a security mindset (which probably means that the modern understanding of “smart home” appliances terrifies you);
have been teaching other people before;
at least once in your life have been kicked from a party for disconnecting that always-on eavesdropped Alexa speaker/mic so the music also stopped. (OK, this sounds oddly specific, so let’s call it “nice to have”.)
The role duties will include, but is not limited to:
Security onboardings for new employees
Executive training and operational security
Phish our employees. Can you find a way to make this fun? (competitions? games?)
Train internal developers to use our new in-house coding standards.
End users! Decentralization can’t work without easy-to-use tools that ordinary non-tech people can understand.
Train external parachain developers in best security practices
Train external validator teams in best security practices
Surprise us! Be creative! For the right candidate we are prepared to give you wide leeway to bring your inspiration to our security training needs.
Things we’d expect to see from you:
Experience as a trainer, educator, or teacher
Demonstrated creativity and flair
Speak a second language? Extra bonus points!
Surprise us with how awesome you are!
Working at Parity means focusing on the stuff that counts: building the most cutting-edge technology for the future web. Our teams enjoy a high degree of trust, freedom and autonomy to achieve that goal.
Because we value initiative and learning, we’ve defined a generous personal budget to attend conferences or skills courses of your choosing. We think you know what’s best for you!
Parity is a diverse company with people from various countries, and we will support you with German or English language courses where needed.
Not all of us who collaborate work in the same place. Bringing the team together is something we value a lot, so we regularly go on team retreats (subject to current pandemic restrictions for the health of our contributors and teams).
Parity Technologies is a team of the world’s premiere blockchain developers building industry-leading technologies that enable developers to create this next wave of better products and services. You’ll join at a critical moment when the future of the decentralized web is being shaped, and perform an influential role in making a more equitable society for our future.
Progress in open-source and decentralized technologies like blockchain has shown that we can build systems that prioritize individual sovereignty over centralized control. With these new technologies, there’s no need to trust any third parties not to be or become evil
