  • Our client is an ambitious cryptocurrency exchange headquartered in London, consisting of market-leading professionals and subject matter experts.
  • As a part of our plans to provide global, 24-hour coverage to clients, we are currently looking to hire experienced individuals based in our UK office who can assist the Chief Operations Officer (COO) during and outside London business hours. They will be expected to run, operate and oversee Hamilton’s activities to a high standard.

Reporting line:

  • COO, London/United Kingdom.

Key tasks:

  • Responsible for providing content management system (CMS) reports to the COO.
  • Reporting any issues arising during regional business hours to the COO.
  • Lead, drive and assist in all Project Management (PM) tasks, regional or global, as assigned by the COO.
  • Set user access permissions, rights and authorisation in Hamilton’s in-house systems on behalf of the COO for required personnel.
  • Maintain, update and review the operations Risk Management Framework (RMF) on behalf of the COO.
  • Assist in testing of existing and new applications (Apps), products and other related aspects (e.g. user-interface features) deployed by Hamilton’s Quality Assurance (QA) team.
  • Provide Management Information (MI) reports to the COO and members of the Executive Team concerning the following non-exhaustive performance metrics: Financial (e.g. the number of deposits/withdrawals on a single business day); User related (e.g. number of new registrations): and Trading/Revenue (e.g. daily profit/loss figures)).
  • Gather, synthesise and analyse data from Hamilton’s websites and/or Apps to assist the COO in making informed decisions in the form of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Monitoring other exchanges and crypto-related websites for, amongst other things, initial coin offerings, initial exchange offerings, policy/regulatory developments, whitepaper publications and information security notifications and logging these on the Regulatory Developments Register (RDR).
  • Provide Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) on Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CTF) concerns to the COO and the London Compliance/Legal Department, per statutory requirements.
  • Draft, prepare and review procedure documents for the COO concerning Hamilton’s business operations. These straddle business-as-usual (BAU) activities, incident response plans and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare summary and reconciliation reports on all trading matters (e.g. settlements and confirmations for the COO daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Monitor the operational resilience and performance of Himalaya’s in-house systems and software for bugs, defects, flaws and imperfections. Escalate any anomalies and/or noteworthy observations to the COO.
  • Provide an End of Day (EoD) assessment report to the COO for a timely handover.
  • Liaise with Operations Officers (of other shifts) to ensure timely handover.
  • Manage, oversee and deliver a timely handover process between the team.
  • Manage AML and risk effectively by ensuring timely and conduct clear escalation, monitoring and resolution of issues, e.g. root cause analysis, incident resolution.
  • Provide weekend and/or night-time coverage supporting the Firm’s 365/24/7 operating model.
  • Independently contribute value-added content to, and help maintain Hamilton’s knowledge management base.
  • Perform any other task(s) assigned by the COO to satisfy the Firm’s strategic objectives, including, but not limited to, operational efficiency.
  • Conceive, draft and present report templates for use in Business-as-Usual (“BAU”) activities (this includes, but is not limited to, account reconciliations, monthly KPI reports and any other relevant performance metrics.
  • Assist the COO in driving through strategic initiatives, from inception to implementation, to assist the Firm in its business activities.
  • To the extent required by the COO, provide coverage and assistance in support of the Firm’s service delivery activities and the SDM team.
  • Undertake environmental scanning on rival products and service offerings and report findings to the COO.
  • Undertake independent learning on the crypto-related subject matter.
  • Assist other departments at Hamilton on tasks concerning operational matters.
  • Monitor, analyse and engage in crypto wallet operations (transfers, reconciliations, operations)
  • Ensure all of the above are performed with the utmost quality by the Operations team and be the main link between the team and the COO.
  • Perform internal control monitoring exercise on Hamilton’s operational efficiency
  • Perform any other duty assigned by the COO related to Hamilton’s performance across all components of its ecosystem.

Required experience and skillset:

  • Knowledge of cryptocurrencies, blockchain and crypto exchanges (preferred).
  • Previous experience of working in an exchange offering fixed-income, currencies and commodities (FICC), foreign exchange (FX), equities, banking, FinTech or cryptocurrency products.
  • Advanced Microsoft (MS) Excel skills. You should excel in presenting data through Pivot Tables, Pivot Charts and other relevant visual formats/materials (e.g. graphs). PowerBI and other analytical tools (preferred).
  • Conceptualised understanding of how an exchange functions and operates.
  • Previous experience producing CMS for FX, Cryptocurrency, Banking or FinTech projects, and providing reports using data gathering from multiple sources (internal and external).
  • Good understanding of secondary markets (i.e. sales and trading) and PM.
  • Comfortable with working under pressure on time-sensitive assignments.
  • Adaptable, flexible and willing to utilise lateral thinking in solving problems.
  • Cognisant of the latest trends, news and developments in the cryptocurrency world (preferred).
  • Ability to think strategically across a multitude of subject areas.

Other Conditions:

  • Shift work (may necessitate work on weekends and/or outside the hours specified above)
  • Night-time coverage (required as, and when, deemed necessary)
