Service Line: Assurance
The assurance team is committed to providing specialist advisory services such as Accounting Operations Advisory, Business Assurance (blockchain, emerging external reporting), complex accounting assurance, and disruptive events assurance.
Your role
As COVID restrictions lift and our markets normalize, our CFO Survey indicates that CFOs and their organizations are in a growth mindset, looking to generate value through M&A or organic re-focus/transformation. Furthermore, global investors are sitting on record levels of un-deployed capital which is expected to keep M&A volumes high into 2022/23.
Given the opportunity that the above macro context creates, we are looking to recruit a well-rounded finance professional, with capability across a number of technical disciplines, into our growing Disruptive Events Assurance business. With respect to background, we will consider applicants from audit, advisory or industry backgrounds.
Our Disruptive Events business supports finance organisations deliver on their priorities before, during and after events that are disrupting their businesses (e.g. M&A, IPO, transformation) by deploying accounting, process and control, financial reporting and project management capabilities.
From a transactions/IPO perspective, you will have the opportunity to work directly with owners and key advisers on live transactions, delivering finance assist services linked to the capabilities above, with a focus (albeit not exclusively) on supporting with transaction related financial activities e.g. preparation of financial information and helping finance organisations integrate acquisitions and their processes and controls post deal.
You will have the opportunity to support us in growing a newly formed team and build a market facing business.
Responsibilities will include,
  • Manage various client accounts from which we will derive revenue
  • Lead on the delivery of project engagements for our clients. In the performance of this activity you will
    • Lead a team and be responsible for the technical delivery of our work
    • Prepare budgets for projects and work performed by the team
    • Be responsible for the economics of the engagement and monitor budgets vs actual.
    • Maintain the relationship with our client involved on the project.
    • Support in the delivery of Readiness engagements to support companies prepare for a transaction/IPO
    • Support in the preparation of financial information to support in the execution phase of a transaction.

  • Support business development activities which include
    • Proposition development
    • Attending industry events
    • Prepare and deliver proposals for our products.
    • Preparing budgets to support our proposal activity
  • Perform take-on checks for potential clients and maintain customer due diligence files
  • Prepare and deliver training to more junior team members
  • Act as a coach to more junior team members
  • Appraise the performance of team members
  • carries out and/or supervises general accounting and administrative work.
  • Provide updates to the partner, Director, Senior Manager on engagements
  • Meet with stakeholders from around the firm to raise awareness of the offering and how it can be weaved into existing propositions
Your professional experience
  • Technical experience across one or more of Accounting, Controls and Financial/Management Reporting;
  • Experience of having worked on finance workstreams associated with M&A transactions;
  • Leading and project managing teams working on engagements and ensuring that key deliverables and client deadlines are met.
  • Responsibility for driving the strategy and contributing to the Assurance leadership team;
  • Experience of having to look at issues from a broader perspective, managing diverse teams and deploying strategies to overcome them.
  • Working within a large/complex organisation, interacting with teams and stakeholders outside of the immediate finance sphere
  • Managing diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution
  • ACA/ACCA qualification (or equivalent);
  • A track record in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders;
  • Significant professional experience;
  • Audit experience is beneficial;
  • Mature understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards; and
  • Experience working on capital market/IPO transactions; in particular, the financial workstreams (FRP, Historical financial information etc).
