Integration is a corner stone of customers’ Digital Transformation. Companies that embrace agile Integration principles will lead and those who do not will fall behind. We are adding a new position to our German technical sales team for an IBM Integration expert to help IBM’s clients simplify and automate daily operations driven by agile integration architecture and digital transformation enablers. This engineer will engage directly in solving real-world integration problems in the context of application integration or business process automation.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As an Integration Technical Sales Specialist, you will represent IBM as a technical sales consultant to our clients and as a technical sales leader for IBM sales teams.

A successful IBM Integration Technical Sales Specialist will have a deep understanding of IBM’s Integration portfolio, products, offerings and services including IBM MQ, IBM Aspera, IBM DataPower, IBM Application Connect, IBM API Connect, IBM WebSphere/Liberty, Confluent Platform/Apache Kafka, and the Cloud Pak for Integration platform. A successful candidate will also possess a robust business acumen within the application integration domain

A Technical Sales Specialist will learn their client’s business requirements, technical requirements, and competitive landscape and apply their technical knowledge and experience to bring new solutions to their assigned clients. Technical Sales Specialists will be responsible for collaborating with IBM sales teams to define, design, and detail the technical aspects and feasibility of proposed solutions. Furthermore, they provide technical input on developing customer planning objectives including resource requirements and the development of strategic approaches for their client set. They will lead and deliver client facing solution workshops, product demonstrations, technical education, and Proof of Concepts activities. A Technical Sales Specialist will support technical escalations, design solutions, product deployment and answer technical questions throughout the sales process in order to progress and close sales and develop customer relationships.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • At least 3 years of experience as Technical Sales Professional, Sales Engineer, Consulting or similar role for Automation Solutions
  • At least 3 years of technical experience with Integration Software or equivalent
  • Experienced level skills and hands-on experiences on Kubernetes / OpenShift based architectures and Cloud Native / Container approaches
  • Ability to identify and envision opportunities
  • Presentation skills with the ability to adapt messages for different audiences
  • German and English: Fluent


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Foundational knowledge of Apache Kafka and/or the Confluent Kafka platform
  • Foundational knowledge of API Management solutions
  • Red Hat OpenShift experience, accreditation or certification.
  • Foundational knowledge of industry standard Dev/Sec/Ops best practices and tooling.
  • 5 years’ experience in customer-facing technical role, Enterprise Tech Sales, Consulting Services, or equivalent.
  • Ability to articulate business models, and value of our offerings.
  • Willingness to learn other IBM Automation portfolio solutions. For example: AIOps
