The Team

Our Risk team sits at the very core of Bitpanda. It works across functions, products, and regions to monitor front-line performance and ensure that the business is on safe footing. People in the Risk team are among the first in the company to get involved in new business initiatives; from app technology, to treasury and finance, to customer support.

The Role

The Head of Operational Risk sits within our 2LoD reporting directly to the Group VP of Risk Management. As a member of a small team you will have an exciting opportunity to see the whole picture and help everywhere.

This role sits in the Group risk management function to support the Group VP of Risk Management in the implementation of the operational risk management frameworks.

The Head of Operational Risk will partner with senior figures to build and improve the RCSA landscape. The successful candidate will have strong exposure across financial and non-financial risk.


The Mission

  • Identify and document risks, controls and self-assurance activities
  • Partner with control function teams to understand and assess the control environment and its impact on business line
  • Assess non-financial operational risk threats and opportunities for control improvement
  • Lead and organise annual RCSA refresh reviews across 1LoD and control functions
  • Directly manage and support the development and implementation of the 1LoD remediation
  • Drive collaboration with control programmes management to promote strong risk culture
  • Engage with operational risk assessments to satisfy enterprise and regulatory requirements

About you

  • At least 10 years of work experience in Financial services; with experience working in a highly regulated environment
  • Proven experience and knowledge of non-financial risk in financial services
  • Knowledge of industry standards, legislation and regulation relating to operational risk management
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining effective risk management programs is essential
  • The ability to manage/collaborate with the geographically dispersed team is desirable
  • Independent mind-set ability to create, lead and implement simple, elegant solutions within a short period of time
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills
