Frontend Developer (Barcelona)

At Games for a living we develop exciting AAA blockchain games, as well as the tools to help gamers and game developers benefit from crypto. We are expanding, and are on the lookout for an experienced Frontend to join our highly motivated team.

We are looking for a Frontend Developer with experience in Vue.js or React to support and grow our engineering team across a variety of different products.

This role will focus primarily on the frontend development and maintenance of our ecosystem’s applications where customers and 3rd party developers will be able to interact with our blockchain platform.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with software engineers and game developers to design, implement, and improve a functional and user-friendly experience using Vue.js or React.
• Build projects and products with long-term impact, including UI, backend, testing, and other relevant aspects, while striving for best practices and high-quality software.
• Identify friction points and implement solutions to improve potential bottlenecks in the frontend development process.
• Contribute to key infrastructure decisions in terms of scalability and robustness.
• Communicate effectively with the engineering team and other stakeholders in the organisation.
• Mentor and support other members of the engineering team, as needed.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest frontend technologies and best practices, and be motivated and enthusiastic about taking on new challenges and learning new skills.

Essential:


3+ years of experience in:

• Vue.js or React: These are the primary frontend development frameworks that the candidate should have experience with.
• JavaScript: The candidate should have expertise in JavaScript, which is the programming language used for frontend development.
• HTML5 and CSS3 with Sass: The candidate should have knowledge of HTML and CSS, which are used for markup and styling of web pages.
• Git: The candidate should be familiar with Git, which is a version control system used for collaborative software development.
• RESTful APIs: The candidate should have experience working with RESTful APIs, which are used to communicate between frontend and backend systems.
• Agile Development: The candidate should have experience working in an Agile development environment, which emphasises collaboration, flexibility, and rapid iteration.
• Webpack: The candidate should be familiar with Webpack, which is a module bundler used to package frontend assets for deployment.
• Testing frameworks: The candidate should have experience with testing frameworks such as Jest, Mocha, or Cypress, which are used to ensure the quality and functionality of frontend applications.
• Proactive, with attention to detail, a can-do attitude and creative flair.
• Exceptional strategic thinking and creative problem-solving skills with a strong analytical mindset
• Experience building clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Our work language is English, so it is important to feel comfortable communicating both written and spoken.

Nice to have:

• BSc/BA in Computer Science or Engineering.
• A passion for gaming.
• Professional experience in the video game or blockchain industry.
• Familiarity with IDEs like Visual Studio or IntelliJ.
