Ethereum Research Associate

Role Summary:

The Ethereum Research Lead is responsible for, designs, curates, edits, and as necessary, directly contributes to research publications and research outputs related to Ethereum. The role demands a strong passion for Ethereum and the wider crypto industry.

The role will require the active nurturing of media relationships to help enhance CoinShares’ image as a technology leader as well as an asset manager. It will require extensive networking, intra-industry communication and relationship-building to remain at the forefront of the Ethereum ecosystem in order to maintain the position and public impression of CoinShares Research as a best-in-class research desk operating at the bleeding-edge of a rapidly evolving industry.

The Ethereum Research Lead will be deeply knowledgeable with regards to crypto/blockchain, not only from the economical, but also from the technical point of view, with a deep understanding of Decentralised Finance. This knowledge is expected to be wielded internally by supporting employees and stakeholders in crypto/blockchain-related decision-making and helping the sales and customer service teams manage difficult technical questioning by current and prospective investors. Knowledge is also expected to be leveraged externally within the online and conference-going communities following the crypto/blockchain space in order to support the CoinShares brand and public image as a thought-leader and innovator in the industry.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Oversee key aspects of the Company’s Ethereum research activities.
• Specifically, to generate CoinShares content including, without limitation, blog & social media commentary, asset highlights, core regular publications and topical reports.
• Be a media spokesperson for Ethereum and DeFi, and actively engage with the media and build upon existing media relationships.
• Presentation, interview and panel duties outlining research findings or educating audiences, both internal and external.
• Employing a collaborative approach with other direct team members and help mentor those more junior in the team.
• Supporting the Sales and other internal teams with technical argumentation and/or explanations in meetings or in writing.
• Keeping abreast of developments in Ethereum, the underlying protocols and extension layers, and advising colleagues in respect thereof.
• Aiding in the development of CoinShares thought-leadership campaign with a view to growing the goodwill, business and investor base associated with CoinShares as a brand and its related Ethereum investment products.
• Maintaining observation and awareness of changes in financial regulations and legislation related to Ethereum and advising colleagues in respect thereof.

Undertaking any other such duties as may be reasonably required by the role.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

• Master’s Degree (MA/MBA or equivalent) in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Business Management, Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or research-based (MSc or equivalent) is essential.
• Previous research and publishing experience, either private, public, or academia is essential.
• Extensive knowledge of the Ethereum (and associated) protocol, including DeFi and Layer-2s, with a deep understanding of Decentralised Finance is essential.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel, Tableau, Python or equivalent is essential.
• Advanced knowledge of PowerPoint, Keynote or equivalent is essential.
• Advanced knowledge of crypto/blockchain technology & data is essential.
• Knowledge of SQL, BigQuery, Dune Analytics or equivalent is desirable.
• Previous writing and publishing experience in the crypto/blockchain space is desirable.
• Competent public speaker is an advantage.
• The ability to speak a second language is desirable.
• Previous social media management experience is an advantage.
• Active presence online, in social media – Twitter, LinkedIn, Discord is an advantage.
