API Project Lead (m/f/x)


Main tasks:

  • Make contribution (Scrum Product Owner) to maintaining and developing in some instances highly complex APIs, typically with a direct link to logistics processes (such as address validation, sanction list checks and tracking and tracing)
  • Plan and prepare technical developer teams with the aim of driving the implementation of recommended API design standards and scalable cloud infrastructures on an exemplary basis
  • Ensure and monitor the quality of the documentation of APIs and their processes; monitor service quality and performance with regard to APIs and related services; define measures in the event of deviations or when potential improvements are identified
  • Review existing divisional APIs with regard to their suitability for the Group API portfolio; this includes evaluating their technical coherence and compatibility with the Group standards
  • Plan and prepare IT decision-making bodies (such as generating agendas, work steps) and monitor the implementation of decisions / initiatives, in particular for the IT Board and divisional IT management
  • Monitor the market for product and technology developments in the IT area, assess them and contribute to deriving recommendations for action that are closely aligned with the company’s commercial objectives for the use of APIs
  • Implement, in consultation with relevant representatives from the corporate divisions and the Corporate Center, IT initiatives relating to APIs and relevant topic areas such as data analytics, data lake technology, IoT and blockchain


Responsibility:

  • Provide content-related support for the work of decision-making bodies in IT and advise decision-makers
  • Provide content-related support for Group-wide API IT products for highly complex API end points
  • Independently prepare concepts and decision papers for committees / decision-makers in the IT area for digitalization topics, especially for APIs and their relationships in the divisional application and process landscapes
  • Implement and analyze API requirements with business units, ITS and providers


Customers:

  • Maintain frequent contact at specialist and head of department level with the IT function in the corporate divisions
  • API projects
  • Ensure compliance with service and quality standards


Stakeholders:

  • Manage relationships and interact with divisional IT departments and related teams (such as data analytics, data lake, IoT and blockchain)
  • divisional IT teams, IT providers and platform providers)


Skills/qualifications:

  • University degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in information technology or a related area of studies, plus at least four years of relevant professional experience
  • Very good knowledge of current IT architectures such as microservices, REST, service-oriented architecture and internet standards; practical technical skills would be a major advantage
  • Good knowledge of API documentation formats such as Open API and GraphQL, plus common data formats such as JSON and XML; practical experience in designing APIs and ontologies would be an advantage
  • Experience in IT project management, agile project methods (such as scrum) and IT product responsibility
  • Knowledge of common cloud-based infrastructures (such as GCP, Azure, AWS) and related concepts (such as infrastructure as code, continuous integration/continuous delivery) would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of test management and test automation would be a major advantage
  • Practical experience with developing IT systems (such as Java, JavaScript, Go, Rust) would be an advantage
  • Experience with working with business requirements in collaboration with specialist departments and with requirements management, particularly with the area of interfaces/data structures
  • Excellent written and spoken English; knowledge of German would be an advantage
